Claire is our newest member of staff and is proving to be a huge hit amongst our clients and patients! Claire is from O’Callaghan’s Mills in Co. Clare and qualified from UCD in 2008. Claire spent two years working in Tulla after qualifying before moving to Cork where she spent 5 years working in a busy veterinary clinic, expanding her small animal veterinary skills. Claire has a keen interest in dermatology and also very much enjoys surgery, and was recently awarded a specialist qualification in small animal surgery, which will be greatly beneficial to the clinic. Claire now lives in Kilmurry with her partner, Brian, and their rescue dog, a cheeky terrier cross called George, and their two rescue cats, April and Owen Hunt! Between studying and working, Claire has very little spare time, but she likes to spend it walking George and doing a little bit of farming! Claire’s upbeat and happy attitude is infectious and all the staff at Treaty are delighted to have her as part of the team!
Áine is from Co. Mayo and worked there for a year after qualifying from UCD in 2006. She soon moved to the UK where she gained invaluable small animal surgical and medicine skills. Áine then moved home to Ireland in 2009 and joined the Treaty Team! She married her husband, Eamon, in 2010, who is also a veterinary surgeon and they now live near Birdhill with their two sons, Rory & Pierce, their two rescue dogs Suzie and Cusco and their two rescue cats, Izzy and Blitz! We are hoping Eamon has convinced her to stay close by, but lucky for us they seem to be settling in nicely with a variety of farm animals too, including their cows, their two donkeys, Big Momma and Chocco and their recently rescued (and almost featherless!) battery hens, Laurrette, Josephine and Gráinne! Áine has proven to be a very valuable asset to Treaty and although she very much enjoys surgery, she also has a keen interest in the treatment of exotic animals and small furries such as rabbits, hamsters, rats and pygmy hedgehogs!
John qualified as a vet from UCD in 1982. He established Treaty Vets in 1986, and some of you may remember visiting him in our clinic on the Ennis Road, until we moved to our current purpose built premises in Thomondgate in 1996. John then went on to open our second branch in Shannon, Co. Clare, in 2007. Over the years, John has lectured extensively at the University of Limerick, in particular on Canine Husbandry and Equine Science. John’s main interest is canine and feline medicine, and he very much enjoy’s consulting and meeting our client’s and their pets in both our Limerick and Shannon branches. John also has a very keen interest in the care of the racing greyhound. John lives in Clonlara with his wife Susan, and they have two sons, Diarmuid and Eoin, and a Springer Spaniel, Nodlaig!
